Baltimore: Geraldine Gunn, Health Care Provider at Bon Secours

Geraldine Morgan Gunn

Geraldine Morgan Gunn, a Baltimore native who was a health care industry professional for more than 30 years, died June 19. She was 74.

A graduate of Frederick Douglass High School, she attended nursing school. She joined Bon Secours Hospital after nursing school as a nursing assistant and was part of the hospital’s staff for more than three decades until her retirement. While working nights at the hospital she developed crochet skill, producing blankets for many newborns at the hospital.

She married William “Bill” Gunn in 1960, who preceded her in death, was the mother of a son, William Gunn Jr., and a daughter, Lynee Deneen Gunn, who preceded her in death.

Gunn was an active member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church.  In her youth she was known for roller skating and hand-dancing and as an adult enjoyed teaching dance moves.

She is survived by her son William “Peanut” Glenn; grandsons Bryan J. Gunn, Christian Gunn and Andrew Gunn; granddaughters Aisha Walker, Desaray Turner-Jackson and Emauni Gunn; great-grandson Brylan Gunn; brothers Arnold Morgan and Luther Douglass Penick; sister-in-law Jean Morgan; daughter-in-law Katherine Gunn and close friend Rose Gunn Cowans who, along with her daughters, Angela Gunn-Elliott and Tracey Gunn-Simms, took care of Geraldine Gunn.

Services are scheduled for June 28 at Mount Ararat Baptist Church, 3000-8 Gwynn Falls Parkway; wake at 10:30 a.m. and funeral at 11 a.m.
