Caron Butler Basketball Classic Held This Sunday

(January 6, 2009) - Wizards star forward Caron Butler is hooking up with Nike and local urban wear retailer DTLR to host the second annual Caron Butler Basketball Classic, a charity basketball tournament that will showcase some of the best high school basketball talent in the region.

Six regional high school basketball teams will compete against each other on Jan. 11, at Coolidge High School at 6315 5th St., N.W. Washington, D.C.

Paul VI (Va.) will take on Prep Charter (Pa.) in the first game at 2 p.m. followed by National Christian Academy (Md.) vs. Coolidge High (D.C.) at 4 p.m. Preston Academy (N.C.) will face Heat Academy (Va.) in the final matchup of the first round at 6 p.m.

Proceeds from the Caron Butler Basketball Classic will benefit the Hoop Magic Foundation, a non-profit program established to help student athletes with after school tutoring.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or at the high schools competing in the tournament.
