(November 3, 2009) - How was your Halloween? It seems like the entire District of Columbia got in on the spooky spirit. Sasha and Malia were spotted trick-or-treating in East Capitol where residents go all out in decorating their houses. Even First Lady Obama dressed up as Cat Woman while she and President Obama handed out candies and healthy snacks to about 2000 local students.
For his incredible career, last week, Bill Cosby was honored with the Mark Twain Prize, the nation’s top humor award at The Kennedy Center. Packed with A-list celebs including Jerry Seinfeld, first lady Michelle Obama and second lady Jill Biden, former cast mates from “The Cosby Show” were also there to support including Phylicia Rashad and Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
Local rapper and model Angel Lola Luv also known as Lola Monroe celebrated her birthday at Ibiza Nightclub last Friday night. The evening was hosted by R&B singer Amerie who is also from the area. Also spotted were rapper Trina and R&B singer Omarion who all partied in the DJ booth.
Other artists were spotted around town as well: Hip Hop legends Cypress Hill along with newcomer Phil Ade and Tabi Bonney performed at the 9:30 Club this past weekend. While R&B singer Carl Thomas performed at The Icon, soul singer Jaguar Wright and Alison Carney performed at The Scene.
During Howard University's homecoming, Taraji P. Henson wasn’t only serving as the Grand Marshal but she is also the spokeswoman for Art Creates Life, which recently launched a campaign called “A Write To Revolution” to battle illiteracy. At the launch event last week, Taraji was joined by actor Lamman Rucker, ABC News Anchor Cynne Simpson and musician John Forte to bring attention to a very important issue affecting our youth.
Although the cast hasn't been confirmed yet, the Bravo television series "The Real Housewives of D.C." is already underway. Film crews were recently spotted at Bar Dupont where a special dinner was being held. Television personality Paul Wharton was in the building along with reality-TV star Omarosa.
This week marks the anniversary of President Barack Obama's election to the presidency of the United States. Be sure to toast to President Obama and the great change he has already accomplished and continues to do.
