Born in Dallas, Tx. in 1937. His family moved to Oakland, Ca. when he was seven-years-old. He met Huey Newton while both were enrolled in Merritt Junior College. He and Newton are the co-founders of the Party. Seale built the Party from a local organization to a national one while Newton was in prison for manslaughter after a violent confrontation with Oakland police.

Seale was arrested along with several white radicals in Chicago (hereafter known as "The Chicago Eight") for attempting to disrupt the Democratic National Convention there. During his trial, the judge ordered him bound and gagged, causing international outrage. He left the Party in 1974, a year after the Party ran him for mayor of Oakland. He's currently a community organizer in Pa.
