Ciskei / Eastern Cape Province, 1994: A 94 year old woman is assisted by election workers from a polling place in a remote village after casting her vote. She said, "Now I can die knowing that my children will be free." THE FREEDOM TRAIN IS COMING (1994) On April 26 a wave of peace settles over South Africa. Aged South Africans hobble for miles and wait for days. Then, quietly, peacefully, they vote. They give thanks for living long enough to be able to become a citizen in a country they had lived in all their lives. They say, "Now I can die, knowing that my children will be free." |
