Do you think Bill Clinton's lead in the polls to be enough to return
a Democratic majority to Congress?
Name: Nat Williams Email: nat@netsol.net Response:
History reflects that ,most of the time, when a president is elected from a particular party, the Congress reflect the opposite. We are safer with this type of check and balance.
Name: Donald R. Kurtz Email: drkurtz@server.3lefties.com Response:
No. The American people seems to perfer two party rule. The Republicans will retain slim majorities in both houses.

Whether or not the Democrats regain Congress/Senate,
the choice between Bill Clinton and Bob Dole is
equivalent to choosing either Satan or Lucifer. We, as
African-Americans, will ctach HELL in either scenario.
We must learn to do for ourselves economically, educationally
and politically.

FRANKLY, I BELIEVE IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH PARTY WINS AS TO THE FATE OF AFRICAN AMERICANS. NO ONE ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT ISSUES FACING OUR COMMUNITIES. EVERYONE HAS BEEN DIVIDED INTO THINKING ABOUT THEIR OWN SPECIAL INTERESTS IE DOCTORS, ELDERLY ETC, NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE FUTURE NOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. PEOPLE JUST WANT TO DO WHAT BENEFITS THEM AT THE PRESENT MOMENT WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE EFFECTS IT WILL HAVE ON THE FUTURE. WE REALLY NEED TO HAVE ANOTHER CANDIDATE. ONE WHO CANNOT BE BOUGHT & HAS VIEWS THAT ARE NOT AS EXTREME AS THE OTHERS..
Name: Fred Lane Email: derfenal@sprintmail.com Response:
I'm not really sure about Clinton's re-election turning Congress into a majority democratic body, however, what does interest me is that there are still quite a few "rednecks" left in this country that are for the Dole candidacy and that's somewhat frightening.
Name: Email: WeWorkN2@AOL.COM Response:
I think that Dole's attempts for the presidency
at this time are futile. Dole chose the wrong
message for the people simply by not explaining
what he would do for the country. His party
alienated minorities despite token appearances
by prominent blacks. Slick "Willie" would have
to do something very stupid to loose this one.
So lets hope he keeps his fly closed and ears/eyes
open.

Haveing a Democratic majority in Congress has its good points and bad. The good points - At this point in time I favor a Democratic majority for the simple reason that not enough clear thinking Republicans are running for office. I would love to see another party take over if they could demonstrate a positive attitude and offer a clearly defined program for the nation to move to a higher level of fiscal responsibility and social responsibility.
The Republican party has some very good ideas that I can relate to, but its the messenger not the message that I can not vote for. On the Democratic side its the messenger and not the message that I vote for even though often I dislike the (professionally) the messenger.
Name: Tay D. Triggs Email: tdtrigg@rs6000.cmp.ilstu.edu Response:
That is hard to decide based on the information that is currently presented. Americans 'change' their minds about which candidate will benefit their best interests and change their minds about what their interests are. In a way it doesn't really matter. Our people have a history of having opposing opinions with Republicans because we believ they are there to take rights and equality. When you think about it Democrats only pacify us. They put up a front like they are on our side by passing and supporting laws that seemingly give us equality and better chances at advancement. In reality these laws only pacify us into accepting, being content instead of screaming and fighting for more.
Name: Email: patfong@erols.com Response:
I hope his lead will be enough. It will take us all to get out there and vote if we want him to win. I think we'll see some dark days if Dole and Nute-types have the say-so over minorities.
Name: Jusblsprod@aol.com Email: Jusblsprod@aol.com Response:
Democrates or The GOP. Who cares? We should care. Why? I feel that we depend to much on the government. all of those programs that the govenment have who do you think pay for all of that stuff? WE DO the people in the form of taxes. most people do not know that they pay almost 40 to 50 percent in taxes from state local and national to gas houseing and food taxes all go towards the government. cut the pork and keep your own money and save it or invest it.

VOTING will bring the democratic majority to
congress
Apathy is destructive
This is not a vote for either party!!!
Name: Mike Grace Email: scruffy@uclink4.berkeley.edu Response:
It doesn't really matter the democrat and the republican party are almost the same anyway.
Sure Bill Clinton is going to win but I'm voting for the only candidate whom will keep their
campaign promises and help us to help ourselves. By cutting down the excess government and
getting rid of income taxes. This year I'm sending a message to the gov't. Thats why
I'm voting for Harry Browne the libretarian candidate for President.
Name: Ede Taylor Email: etaylor@telespec.com Response:
I am at least hoping that if Bill Clinton wins this election, the Democrats will hopefully rule Congress. I am aware that I'm being extremely optimistic because I believe it's the best way to be. Unfortunately, I'm not completely convinced that Clinton will win the presidency due to the opinion that Mr. James N. has voiced. In a class discussion I had earlier today, I was deeply moved because one of the brother's in my class expressed the same sentiment. He said something to the effect of presidential elections not making a difference and he therefore wasn't voting. Again, I'm afraid these opinions are becoming somewhat widespread. My people, voting is our voice. Our forefathers died so we would have the right to vote. Bill Clinton, at least, acknowledges the fact that black people do exist and the current trends in America are extremely racists. Dole won't even acknowledge us. He wants to cut out all affirmative action plans because he claims everyone is equal. Yet, he was sued by the black writerof the song "Soul Man" because he tried to use it as his campaign song without even consulting (acknoweldging this black man). But, he or the people in his party didn't know any better. They didn't know that there's legality involved when using someone else's material. Or maybe, the writer of the song doesn't matter. He's black. He doesn't know any better. He's not aware he can sue us. We're just running for president. I don't want to think about what concern a rich, old redneck would have for African Americans. Okay, I've strayed from the topic. We, as a people, need to unify before anything can be accomplished. The way we are constantly killing each other signafies that something else drastic needs to happen before we unify. Until then, we need to "ROCK THE VOTE". Start somewhere. Although he is the lesser of two evils, Clinton is the starting point. We have to vote to keep Dole out. Dole will slash any programs that may significant to our mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles, or grandmothers and grandfathers. If you think we are living in unfair, racist conditions today, VOTE AGAINST DOLE. He'll have us picking cotton!

IT WOULD BE THE END OF AMERICA. CHAOS WOULD RULE!
EVIL WOULD BE GOOD...GOOD WOULD BE EVIL!
WELFARE RECIPIENTS WOULD RISE DRASTICALLY
CRIMINALS WOULD BECOME FIRST CLASS CITIZENS
MIDDLE CLASS WILL BECOME LOWER CLASS
LOWER CLASS WOULD BECOME INDENTURED SERVANTS
RACE RIOTS WOULD RISE
IMMORAL BEHAVIOR WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE PUBLICLY
DECENCY WOULD BE SHUNNED AND MOCKED
PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL PRODUCE DUMMIES AT A FASTER
PACE AND GREATER QUANTITY
You lt know it really intriques me how that when
it come to the credibility of the Republicans
it is a major issue. "They are racist, they hate
blacks, they don't do anything for blacks!"
And maybe to some degree there is some validity
to some of it. But when you bring up Democrat
credibility...IT DOESN'T MATTER! A lot of us
forget that it took quite a few Democratic votes
in the pass to help those racist Republicans get
what they wanted. The Congress was Democratically
held. Now Bill Clinton is no Angel, neither is Dole
so the issue is not their character. We all have weaknesses,
but credibility is important. I believe that character
is important, because it is reflected in your credibility.
Just because I put a few blacks on the stand, does not
say that I plan to keep you there. Clinton knows that
blacks vote Democrat. When a black child is born, the
does not say it is a boy, it is a girl...they say
"It's a Democrat!" We really need to start looking at
where we are. Democrats have basically held the Congress
for 30 plus years....ARE WE ANY BETTER...REALLY!
Yes, progress has been made, but for every step forward
1.5 has been taken. Throw us a bone, and we will be quiet.
Put one of us in a high place, and "LOOK, THEY CARE!"
I am a proud African American who votes Republican.
I cast my vote based on the good of the entire country.
Not just so I feel good, or it might benefit me.
Just because it may help me, how many others does
it destroy, no matter what their race. I am a Christian.
I am not perfect, I have faults, just a Clinton and Dole.
Yet, our leaders should be more responsible, and give me
a standard whereby I can say...."He is right, I should not
live like this, I want to do better..." Not, "Oh, don't
worry about what I am doing.....I am trying to help
you..." That individual just wants to be elected...
and that is what happen in 1992!

I do not think that Bill Clinton's alleged lead in the polls will lead to a Democratically controlled Congress. The GOP has too much money to allow that. These people are coming up with every thing imaginable to prevent this. I would like to see a return of a majority Democratic Congress and hope that I am wrong on this issue.

Do anyone think that either party will accomplished anything for us. As people, are we now depended on the government to make our lives better. I hope not, if so, we have become slaves again to the very same system that manipulate us in the beginning. What is the differences between (chattel slavery & economy slavery) no matter what color you are.

No, I don't think his lead is enough. I think at the last minute people will vote for the republicians based on who the news media tell them is leading. I have found that people tell you what they want you to hear. I personally think that Bill Clinton have done a good job. Spoken like a true Democrat.
