In your opinion is Sgt. Maj. Gene McKinney really guilty of using his rank to obtain sex from military women or just a victim of military racism?

Response: Sgt. Maj. Gene McKinney is without a doubt a victim of military and the society at large's racism. Anyone of African descent who disagrees with that is a fool. This country will have us fight their wars, work for their companies, raise their children, and advise the president on sexual harrassment, but we will never be true and equal citizens. Wake up black people! I for one support Sgt. Maj. McKinney, and I hope that his accusers get what they deserve.

Response: I was not privy to any of the trial, so I don't know. How can anybody know without access to the evidence for or against? I don't think this trial made Court TV.

Response: PITBUL, you are a misogynist. Why would you assume that it is the woman's wiles that would drive a married man to sleep with multiple white women? The last time I checked, each man's penis is attached to HIS body, located in HIS pants, and is under HIS control....or should be. No one FORCED Sergeant Mc Kinney, either. If a man sees a woman, and is attracted to her, aroused by her, or whatever, he should use the head on his shoulders, and not the one in his pants, and just say no. Women get those same feelings and urges....even the clitoris gets erect, if you want to get specific about it. Women say no ALL the time. Men need to learn to muster the strength, decency, and common sense to do the exact same thing, PARTICULARLY Black men, who are enticed white women. Or else, they will find themselves in situations like this OVER AND OVER AGAIN. And it is not all the women's fault. The man was stupid for sucuumbing to his animalistic desires. He needed to keep them penned up until late each evening, at which time he should have openly discussed them with, then unleashed them on his wife. Is that not an aspect about what marriage is supposed to be about, anyway? No one is saying that a man is not going to be attracted to other women after he is married, but one should look, not touch. Whatever feelings one gets from the other women should be openly discussed, and then physically acted upon at home with the wife. That way, no one can accuse the man of cheating. If everything is out in the open, and kept under control, cheating cannot be brought into the picture.

Response: Part-Two of.....Master Sergeant Eugene McKinney. After he was sentenced, his Attorney filed a $1.5 Million Libel Suit against one of the six women accusers. Sgt. Maj. Brenda Hoster, the first woman to accuse McKinney, falsely charged that the Sergeant attempted to pressure her sexually in a hotel room. This woman was not his subordinate. She had the same rank as the sergeant, at the time. If she went to a hotel with McKinney, what else could she expect? Remember Mike Tyson in the same situation? (a woman, willingly, puts herself in jeopardy, and then, she demands that a Man take responsibility for Her stupid actions!!) The judge was forced to Chastise the six women for making faces and talking during the Court Proceedings. Sergeant McKinney, is a 29-year Veteran with a spotless record. He was the first African-American Man to become Sergeant Major of the Army. McKinney, firmly denied the women's charges against him, ranging from: making threats to mistreating subordinates, to indecent assault, adultery and two counts of obstruction of justice....My brief personal commentary? These "Six Witches" put a Nauseous Stain against a Spotless Military Career of which he can Never Regain! Master Sergeant Eugene McKinney, lost more than these "Childish-Scatterbrains" had to lose. It's obvious there were no Virtues (to be saved) among them....

Response: I believe Sgt. Maj. Gene Mckinney is guilty of poor judgement and abusing his authority. I cannot simply rally around this man because he is African- American. As a 47 year old black woman, I am aware of the sexual harrasment of women. I think this man is an embarrassment to his uniform , to his people, but most of all to his family. His final mistake was believing he could do what his fellow white officers were doing.

Response: Our respect level for women as african americans has reached a new low. Gene may have slept with them but only on a consensual basis. Most Black men these days are too much like Gene or Mike Tyson.

Response: My opinion is, Sgt. Maj. Gene McKinney did use his position as a high ranking military official to exploit sex from some of these woman. I work for the government in a non-military capacity. There are many people who sleep with the boss for a promotion. The only difference is, in the military, doing such a thing is a crime. Since, we can all agree that Sgt. Maj. Mckinney did have sex with at least one of these woman than he, in my opinion is guilty.

Response: Immorality DOES NOT have a "race." Sgt. Maj. McKinney is guilty of adultery. Regardless of whether the women were willing to have an intimate relationship or one night stand with him, McKinney engaged in immoral relationship. The only rape that occurred was the "rape of trust!" His wife trusted him to be faithful to her; not to break his marriage vows. Mrs. McKinney is the true victim.

Response: The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle of this mixed-up situation; it also shows the wrong-headedness of the military by putting men and women in such close quarters. The sexes may be "equal" but they are not the same. There are very desirable differences that God made in each. And when young, males and females are put in close quarters, there is bound to be some sexual interplay. There was probably some consensual sexual activity between McKinney and some of the women accusers. Some would be overcome by their raging hormones and consent to have sex in a moment; later they would have second thoughts and cry "rape" or "sexual harassment." There was probably also some coersion on McKinney's part, it was almost inevitable. But the law says he is not guilty and we are a nation of laws, so we must respect the official verdict. There was also, no doubt, some selective prosecution involved with the charges. After all, they can protect the commisioned officers who are involved in similar situations but this was an enlisted man who is lower in the pecking order. Maybe racism, maybe not; but definitely class bias was involved in his prosecution.

Response: Do you want an honest answer? Yes and yes. As Henry Kissinger is reported to have said, "power is the ultimate aphrodisiac." I even have to agree with "Pittbull" about this programming thing. The prime directive of life seems to be, "keep it going," and for humans this means sex/reproduction. As a man, my experiences in life give me the gut feeling that, "yeah, of course he did it." But I also think that it was, at the time it happened, consensual. The women thought they could get something out of it too. And to just focus on the Sgt. Major, or the black drill sergeants, is racism through and through. After all, this is America. Born in racism (first against the Indians), it will probably die in racism.

Response: Whether he is or isn't we will never know..however, I am pleased that he was held to the same judicial system as whites and was not convicted..does that make sense???? Hey can anybody tell me what they thought about the BPP and the Civil Rights Movement of 1966? I would really like to discuss it with some intelligent folk..thanks..outta here

Response: I believe McKinney was quilty. I served in the military and I seen many high ranking brothers use their rank to get what they wanted some without being caught.

Response: It's a rough call, if he was comfortable enought to act like a white male in the chain of command...he's definitely guilty...ie just a token negro not expecting his spanking for feeling as one of them. If he wasn't a token and had to work 5 times as hard as other to acheive his position he's innocent. I think there has always been too much at stake for him to be a fool. But then again you have Ward Connelly and Clarence Thomas.....

Email: PITTBUL@webtv.net
Response: The Sgt. Maj. Eugene McKinney, is "Not Guilty!" Uncle Sam's Jury declared him Not Guilty of 18 charges. The 19th charge, "Obstruction of Justice," is the one that proved guilt for him. He was demoted one rank below the rank of Sergeant Major to the rank of "Master Sergeant." (I'm not giving all the facts of my research. They are quite lengthy.) The jury also rejected the prosecution's desire for the--Master Sergeant--to be imprisoned for six months...I strongly believe, women should discontinue following men in Man's every endeavor. Women are a definite distraction to men, and "WOMEN ARE" Sex Objects! There is no denying this fact. Their-bodies are a "Red Flag" to the acceptance of Man's psyche..."The American Heritage Dictionary" tells it this way. (2. the mind functioning as the center of thought, emotion, and behavior and consciously or unconsciously adjusting or mediating the body's responses to the social and physical environment.) Man is forever "Susceptible" (easily influenced or affected) to/by Woman! Human life is programmed in this precise (exact) manner.....I won't go farther with this very debatable affirmation insofar as, It's a caustic (sarcastic) statement, for some!!!

Response: as I am e-mailing from belgium, i must admit that I am not so familiar with this case. But I just wanted to say that woman have a mind of there own and that they can make a decision for their one. woman like sex, and if they feel like it, they will say yes. If they are pushes, they will more easily refuse, because of there self-respect. if a man would ask me to sleep with him, and i would like the idea, i wouldn't say no.

PLEASE.WE WILL BE HERE THE REST OF OUR LIVE...THAT'S WHY YOU ALWAYS NEED TO WATCH WHAT YOU DO AND WHO YOU DO IT WITH BECAUSE WHEN YOU REACH THE TOP...YOU WILL BE ABLE TO LOOK BACK AND NOT BE ASHAMED OF WHAT IT TOOK FOR YOU TO REACH THE TOP ...BECAUSE ONE DAY YOU ARE GONNA HAVE TO FACE THEM PEOPLE AGAIN...BE IT GOOD OR BAD, IT'S YOUR CHOICE ... Response: The jury said NOT GUILTY and I agree with the verdict. You can't convince me that all of those women were willing to prostitute themselves for a job. It's time we stop treating women like helpless children who don't know how to say "no." Yes. It was racism but this time it didn't work. Hope the books gets thrown at them. They deserve to be punished.

Email: bradfo43@ccvax.mmc.edu
Response: I think the answer to the question is both: while he very well may be using his rank as a power tool to obtain sexual favors from lower ranking personnel, it also is military racism for him to be singled out, while Congressmen defend high ranking white men and women who are found guilty of sexual misconduct in the military, even if that misconduct is just infidelity. Misconduct is misconduct, according to the rules, and it blatantly obvious that these rules are invariably used to punish Black males over any other kind of dutyman/woman in the armed services.

Response: Sgt. Maj. McKinney may be guilty. In all honesty, Sgt. Majors have tremendous clout when it comes to influencing the minds of weak subordinate personnel. In the case of females under their control or command the Sgt. Major is the determining authority when it comes to the closed office chat that allows the enlisted personnel to riwse in rank. The Sgt. Major is the nearest personto the other enlisted personnel and in that capacity the understanding as a mentor can and has often been abused in the name of sexual parameters , if you know what I mean.

Response: I think that every one of those white women had consensual sex with Gene. I don't think for a minute that he harassed or forced those women to have sex with him. I am from Mississippi, and I just have a hard time believing that any white woman in America could ever feel intimidated into having sex by a Black man no matter how much rank or authority he has over her. If any black man, even if he was a Sgt. Mjr., General or President of the United States, was to try to force a white woman to have sex with him, if that white woman doesn't scream bloody rape the minute the demand comes out of his mouth, she'll make the police station the first stop she makes after she gets up off her back. I just really have a hard time visualizing a white woman being so completely and totally intimidated by a black man because of his rank that he could rape her, force her to have sex, grab her butt or breasts and she be too damn scared to tell the police for three, four or five years, and only admit it when white military police and attorneys knock on her door and tell her that she has to testify or she'll face a court-martial. Peace.

Response: I believe that Command Sergeant Major McKinney was both guilty and a victum of military racism. I do not believe he was guiltless of ALL of the charges leveled against him. I must qualifiy that statement with the fact that no other organization has higher ethical standards governing personal conduct. What other organization can commit it's members to prison for having a one-night stand or long-term affair (adultery)? No other organization, for just committing the act. Other senior level officers were permitted to retire, vice being charged with adultery or sexual harrassment. Coupled with racism, is the issue of classism between officer and enlisted. There were to many women accusers to believe had sexually harassed some of those
