Police officers involved in recent videotaped beatings have not yet been prosecuted criminally. If this fails to happen, should the federal government step in and charge them with civil rights violations?

Plain and simple, they carry a gun and they think their God. If you're black with ANYTHING nice you're a drug dealer or ain't %#$%#$. Imagine, my son wants to be a cop. Not in my life time. He's black and of course he'll be discriminated against on and off the streets.

I realize, With A BADGE, that you are human. Many times thoses with badges do not view other's as human. It's shown by the 35 year old man gun down in a crawl space in Rochester, NY It's shown by a motorist being savagly beaten by four "Officers" while the "suspect is on the ground face down. It shows by a young mother who ribs were broken while she attempted to keep an officer from crushing her 4 year old by an officer. Yeah, I aggree you are humman but do some of you really have a soul?

You don't know how you would react until you are placed in a similar situation. The beatings of the Mexican citizens was justified due to the simple fact that 20 people ran into the trees. Are the officers to assume that none of them were armed? They had to gain immediate control over the two they were taking into custody for their safety as well as the safety of those around. If an officer says to get down, you need to get down immediately. We don't tell you to get down for no reason. Most of the times we are the ones who are scared. We are not robots, we are living breathing people such as yourself. Thank you.

No matter how stress-filled the job, or the amount self-importance we impose upon others, every one deserves to be treated with respect, and it is incumbent upon those who choose to serve the public that this standard is maintained and protected. Police officers are not vigilantes or above the law. Civil Rights laws were inacted to project those who cannot fight back from being victimized. This certainly applies to the victims of this police beating. Whether or not the officers are criminally charged is not a substitute for right. So I think the government should step in and charge the officers involved in this incident with violating the civil rights of the victims.

I am aware of the recent incidents. I was deeply offended by what happened. If these incidents are not judged with strict justice, a higher court should step in. These crimes against our race have gone on too long.

They should be jailed by some one but we all know that isn't going to happen no matter who handles the case.

I live in California and it's getting really crazy. These cops should be held accountable. Video tape has brought to light what we have always known, but it must stop. If nothing is done I fear another riot in this state, black and brown are fed up with police who abuse !

The police and federal government work hand to hand in abusing minorities here in this country. The federal government is worse than the local and state authorities.
The federal police includes FEMA, ATF, FBI, CIA, Secret Service, all of them are "terrorist hit-squads" to either neutralize, disrupt, or terminate all operations that are for the betterment of Nubian Americans in this country. COINTELPRO, and other illegal operations have been and are now taking place.
My question is how can the federal government step in and charge the police officers on civil rights violations if civil rights don't exist?
Better yet, why don't they get charged on human rights instead? This country has a long history of abuse and raping of people and the only way things are going to get right if we take this country before the World Court (like El-Hajj Malik El Shabazz wanted to do) and charge them with violations of human rights.
If that dosen't work then maybe we should send White America a message by sending police bodies up the river to show them that Nubian Americans will not tolerate this type of behavior anymore. Maybe we should begin to beat and slay officers who are suppose "to protect and serve". The year is 1996 and this is the year of the Beast. Never mind about all that talk about community and police relations, either the police helps us or we'll take them out. America is headed towards a police state with the intorduction of the New World Order that is brought to you by the Illuminati, the Skull & Bones Society, the JASON Society, Congress, your favorite President,e Council of Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, and others in the economic and political community of the United Snakes of America. You can sing "We Shall Overcome", you can rely on faith and religion to stop police brutality, you can march and sing, you can protest, but meanwhile the Pale People are preparing for the New World Order. They are already to put Nubian Americans back into slavery by setting up work brigades in case of an national emergency between Nubians and Canaanites (whites). The police are ready to start trouble in our communities. They want a "riot" so they can have the excuse to eliminate Nubian Americans. So, it dosen't matter if the federal government steps in. The federal government, state and local government are working around the clock to eliminate us. We better be prepared for the worst. We better learn to think logically and not emotionally. This is all I have to say for now. Keep supporting MAD Writer Productions for the year 1996. Hotep!!!!!!

I think some action from the government must be taken. Whether it be a more investigative look into the matter or actual action, I believe the government cannot afford to take some step(s) to the police matters now. Evidently, what we have seen over the past few years didn't just happen out of the blue. The black community has seen it for years and will continue to see it as long as the government allows and does not regulate poice officers and their departments.

It is the responsibity of the state goverment to persue such matters. Then if there is no action the Federal goverment should step in.Pressure should be place on the California State Police.

I have no love for any cops I have worked in the criminal no justice for people of color system and have seen cops "beasts" lie on a daily basis to inacarerate us. these officers should goto jail. But to me the one who comitted the biggest crime was the officer who watched and did nothing 99% corrupt.

I think the incident is a tragedy. It WAS appearent that the officers were out of control. I am the Chairman of The Fairfax County Black Law Enforcement officers Association. Issues such as these unfortunately occur to often and dont get the media attention. People in general do not know there rights and stand up for them. this is the first problem that we must address. Eductaion of our people. Holding people accountable for their actions is essential. I recognize first hand that policing is not an easy job but
OUR Law Enforcement MUST HAVE CONTROL AND DO THE RIGHT THING. tHE FINAL ANSWER IS, UNFORNUTATLY THE FBI IS A PART OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND SOMETIMES HAVE THE SAME BAGGAGE THAT OTHER LOCAL AND STATE AGENCIES HAVE. i THINK THEY SHOULD LOOK INTO THE MATTER.But we still need to keep a watchful eye on whats going on.
