WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will present a proclamation today recognizing Jean Peterson, owner of Jean Peterson Design in Frederick. Since 1996, Jean Peterson Design has helped businesses and organizations communicate their messages, from creating brochures and annual reports to designing corporate identity campaigns, logos, illustrations and websites. The business has received more than 200 ADDY Awards from the American Advertising Federation-Greater Frederick, among numerous other achievements. Ms. Peterson began her career as a graphic designer in 1977 before founding her company.She also is involved in the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, Leadership Frederick County, Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, American Advertising Federation of Greater Frederick, Friends of Baker Park and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
In the afternoon, the Comptroller will visit the 87-acre Woodsboro Regional Park, which has been funded through the Department of Natural Resources’ Community Parks and Playground Program. In recent years, the park has seen improvement to its tennis and basketball courts, new playground equipment and has re-established its seasonal wetlands to six acres in a portion of a flood plain next to Israel Creek. This area also saw 10 new exercise stations along an existing walking and jogging paths and a re-grade and installation of a retaining wall to a soccer field.
