Robin Roberts: Doctors Pleased with My Progress

“Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts recently gave a positive update to fans praying for her recovery following a bone marrow transplant.

In an ABC News blog, Roberts detailed her progress and explained that her body has responded well to the new cells that she received.

“My doctors and rock star nurses are very pleased with my progress and I could not be more thankful for the excellent care I am receiving,” she wrote. “I continue to learn so much on this journey, especially when it comes to true friendship and love.”

Roberts added that despite experiencing pain and difficulty some days, she still retains a positive outlook. She concluded the post by thanking her friends, family and fans for their support and added that she hopes to continue her recovery at home soon.

Roberts, 51, announced June 11 that she was diagnosed with myelodyplastic syndrome, a bone marrow disease. After her sister agreed to be a bone marrow donor, Robin underwent surgery in late September.

In 2007, Roberts battled and defeated breast cancer. She said in June that her latest ailment could have been brought on by treatment for her illness.

Earlier this year, Roberts’ mother, Lucimarian Roberts, died at 88.
