Paris Jackson in Recovery From Suicide Attempt Amid AEG Lawsuit Trial

As the 15-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson recovers from an apparent suicide attempt, Jackson family attorney Perry R. Sanders Jr. issued a call for the public to not intrude.

"Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are. It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you,” Sanders said in a statement issued after Paris Jackson was rushed to a hospital early June 5.

"It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention. Please respect her privacy and the family's privacy," he said.

The New York Daily News said a police source confirmed June 6 that Paris took 20 Motrin pills and sliced her wrist with a kitchen knife at 1:27 a.m. June 6 in the Calabasas, Calif. mansion she shares with her siblings, Prince, 16, and Blanket, 11, and grandmother, Katherine Jackson.

Of the three children, Paris has become the most visible since the King of Pop’s death in 2009. She has, according to CBS News, attracted one million followers to her Twitter posts.

She and her brother Prince are listed as plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed against AEG Live LLC, the promoter of the concert tour that the singer was working on at the time of his death.

The lawsuit alleges AEG failed to properly investigate the doctor convicted of causing the singer’s death. It also claims the promoter pressured the music icon to perform a series of concerts and pushed the superstar to rehearse and perform a planned series of 50 comeback shows titled “This Is It.”

The night before this incident, she tweeted, “Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they're here to stay.”
