Pittsburgh, Pa.’s 4 the Caz of Christ moved a step closer to the title of Best Gospel Choir in America Sept. 12. The group’s performance of “Lift Him Up,” directed by veteran gospel music director and the group’s founder Trini Lopez Massie, won first place –and a check $10,000--in the regional How Sweet the Sound competition at Washington, D.C.’s Verizon Center. They will advance to the national finals to be held in New York City Nov. 4. Elder Patrick Riddick and D'Vyne Worship were first runner-up and received a check for $5,000 and local favorite The Virginia State University Gospel Chorale won the Peoples’ Choice Award and also received $5,000.
