The Hollywood Foreign Press on Dec. 13 announced the Golden Globe nominees for achievement in film and television over the past year.

“Django Unchained,” the much-anticipated, Quentin Tarantino-helmed story about a slave on a mission of revenge, was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and twice for Best Supporting Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz).

Veteran actor Denzel Washington, unsurprisingly, secured a Best Actor nomination for his commanding role as an alcoholic pilot in the drama “Flight.”

Don Cheadle was the lone African American nominee in the television categories, competing for best actor in a comedy or musical series for his turn in “House of Lies.”

However, breakout child star, Quevenzhane Wallis, who captured audiences in the hit indie film “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” was snubbed in the Best Actress category.

Steven Spielberg’s biopic “Lincoln” led all nominees, with seven nods.

The 2013 Golden Globes will air Jan. 13 on NBC and will be hosted by comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
