Kanye West and Kim Kardashian found themselves in the media spotlight recently after a Jan. 13 incident in which Kardashian was allegedly the target of a racial slur and West allegedly responded by pounding the culprit with his fists.
Beverly Hills Police said they responded to a report of a misdemeanor battery and issued a statement that “BHPD Detectives are conducting a follow-up investigation. No further information at this time.”
The incident, which unfolded in Beverly Hills shortly after noon, was touched off by an exchange between Kardashian and an unidentified 18-year-old who was said to have called her a “n***er lover” as she entered an office building for a meeting about furnishing a house she and West plan to occupy, according to People.com.
According to TMZ, the teen said , “F**k these fa**ot a** n***ers,” referring to the paparazzi who swarmed Kardashian with cameras as she entered the building.
Allegedly Kardashian told the youth it wasn’t appropriate to use the n-word. Things then got uglier, according to witnesses.
“F*ck you b**ch. Just trying to help you. Shut up n***er lover, stupid slut,” the 18-year-old yelled to Kardashian.
A source close to Kardashian told Ebony Magazine that, “at this point Kim was seriously afraid for her life.”
Kardashian called West on a cell phone and when the teen realized it was West she was talking to, he allegedly said, “f*ck you, n*gger,” according to TMZ.
The source said, “Kanye came down to help her but then the guy ran into a chiropractic office so Kim and Kanye walked in after him.”
West allegedly punched the teen because the man verbally confronted West with obscenities, according to the Kardashian source.
Witnesses said Kardashian screamed, “We have it all on tape.”
Officials said the 18-year-old wants to press charges against West for allegedly punching him.
West, who was spotted in Paris to attend Fashion Week, has not commented on the incident. He is currently facing assault charges from another incident over the summer in which he allegedly assaulted a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport.
