Wizards Break Even in Light Week

The Washington Wizards had a light load this past week, playing just two games over the last seven days. It was the least amount of games Washington has played in a single week so far this season. The light week perhaps served as an opportunity for the Wizards to rest after winning four of their last five games to end November.

Dec. 2 – Washington Easily Beats Orlando 98-80The Wizards made it look easy, beating the Magic, 98-80 on Dec. 2 in D.C. John Wall controlled the game with a double-double of 16 points and 13 assists. Wall got everyone on his team involved, especially Ariza, who nailed four three-pointers on his way to a 24-point performance. Washington also did an impressive job defending Maryland native Victor Oladipo, who was drafted with the No. 2 overall pick by Orlando in the 2013 NBA draft. Oladipo is an athletic guard with a knack for scoring, but Washington held him to just 4-for-12 shooting for 13 points. The win advanced Washington to a .500 record at 9-9.

Dec. 6 – Wizards Fall to Bucks in OT 109-105
Unfortunately for Wizards fans, Washington wasn’t able to stay above .500,
as they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in overtime, 109-105, on Dec. 6 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. Washington played well most of the game against the Bucks as star point guard John Wall scored a game-high 30 points with 8 assists. Veteran forward Trevor Ariza added 22 points with 12 rebounds for the Wizards. But Washington went 0-for-6 in the overtime period as the Bucks pulled away for the tight victory. Bucks power forward Khris Middleton scored 29 points, while point guard Brandon Knight followed with 20 for Milwaukee.

Next Week: Washington (9-10 record) will face a tough challenge next week as they face three teams with winning records. The Wizards will first take on the Denver Nuggets (12-8 record) on Dec. 9, and then will play the Atlanta Hawks (11-10 record) on Dec. 13, followed by a matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers (13-8 record) on Dec. 14.
