Utility to provide workshops and speakers at several Pratt Library branches
BALTIMORE, Dec. 15, 2010 – Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), today announced that it has launched a new program providing customers with better access to important information intended to help them manage energy costs. In partnership with the Enoch Pratt Free Library, BGE will conduct energy-related workshops at several branches and give customers the opportunity to speak face-to-face with BGE representatives. Initial workshops will focus on energy conservation, electric and gas safety, and understanding the BGE bill. Workshops are free and open to the public.
“BGE has a long standing commitment to customer service and our employees spend countless hours in the community, addressing customer needs,” said Jeannette M. Mills, senior vice president of customer relations and account services for BGE. “While BGE has conducted workshops at Pratt Library branches in the past, our new partnership will increase the number of these workshops and as a result, enhance our ability to reach even more customers. This is a good fit for the utility and the library and is a natural extension of our ongoing community outreach efforts.”
For the month of December, workshops have been scheduled at the Central and Edmonson Ave. branches. A complete list of scheduled workshops is available on the Pratt Library’s website, www.prattlibrary.org, in the calendar section.
“As Baltimore’s information hub, it is the Pratt Library’s responsibility to its patrons to offer valuable resources that will help them in their everyday lives,” said Dr. Carla Hayden, chief executive officer of the Enoch Pratt Free Library and member of BGE’s board of directors. “Our partnership with BGE is part of this commitment. These free workshops will help enhance and strengthen communities across Baltimore.”
In addition to workshops at select Pratt Library branches, BGE provides all branches with the utility’s energy conservation booklet, community resource guide as well as brochures on energy efficiency incentives, rebates and other offerings available as part of BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program.
