A Celebration for the Daddies; Happy Father’s Day

Hello everyone! Well guys, this is your day. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! Now ladies, you know what you have to do. The guys have been waiting for this a whole year. They want to be pampered, massaged, catered to and be treated like a king.

Unlike women, men are not too hard to please in my opinion. Just give them a lot of attention from sunrise to sundown, if you know what I mean. Because this is a family-read newspaper, I can’t spell out how you should do that. But I can help you with the wining and dining aspect of where you can take him to enjoy his weekend depending on his tastes in entertainment. From the churches to the clubs, yes, I can help you with that!

There is a big Father’s Day celebration honoring all fathers—with a gift to the first 50 men at the door and $100.00 to the best dressed man—in  a program featuring Bishop Darrell McFadden & The Disciples; plus Bishop Neal Roberson & Singers; Kenny Davis & The Melodyaires; The Wings of Praise; soloist and guitarist Lloyd Moor and soloist Lady Penny Moses, will be held at Dunbar High School Auditorium, 1400 Orleans St. , June 16. The program starts at 4 p.m. For more information & tickets, call 410-358-9661 or 443-610-7583.

Just in case you want to dress casual and be comfortable, you can meet me at the Personality Club, 2014 Harford Rd.  where Richard Calloway will throw his Annual Father’s Day Crab Feast on  June 16 from 5p.m. to 9 p.m. It is cabaret style, with free set-ups and yours truly, Rambling Rose, for a book signing of her new book, African American Community, History & Entertainment in Maryland (Remembering the Yesterdays, 1940-1980). For ticket information, call 410-366-3342 or 410-662-6106. I’ll see you there.

Now, if you want to get an early start with that special man in your life, come and have breakfast with me at a  Happy Father’s Day breakfast at Roots Unltd. Lounge, 2148 Vine St. (near Smallwood Street) on June 16 at  9 a.m. While I am licking my fingers from the eggs, bacon, scrapple, ham, home-fries, fried apples and, grits that will be served,  I will be signing books there, too.  John Shaft will provide with some dynamite music. For more information, email Veronica Jackson, the owner at veronicajackson@comcast.net.

Honey child, I will fill your calendar for this weekend; just follow me! At Caton Castle Lounge, 20 S. Caton Ave., Eleanor Janey is hosting a special pre Father’s Day show featuring Dr. Phil’s 15-Piece Big Band on June 15, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. In addition to the concert, I will be signing books there.
