WHAT: Comptroller Peter Franchot will join Howard County Public School System administrators, as well as state and local officials as they tour Clarksville Middle and Worthington Elementary schools. The school board is asking the state for more than $30 million in total for various projects, of which nearly $3 million has been requested for Clarksville Middle School. Comptroller Franchot will recognize Worthington Elementary for its superior maintenance practices during his visit to Howard County.
As in years past, Comptroller Franchot, as a member of the state’s Board of Public Works, which approves school construction funding, plans to visit schools statewide to make a first-hand assessment of current needs, as well as long-term plans for future renovations. Overall, approximately $772 million has been requested from 21 school districts throughout Maryland.
