Comptroller Franchot, Legislators, Business leaders, Educators Rally to Support Financial Literacy Bill

WHAT: Comptroller Peter Franchot will join legislators, members of the business community, educators, parents, students and consumer advocates to rally for passage of financial literacy legislation recently introduced.
  
   Senate Bill 264, sponsored by Senator Anthony Muse, is slated for a hearing on February 24 and would require all Maryland students to take a course in financial literacy before graduation. Similar legislation was introduced in the House of Delegates as well. Three Maryland counties already have personal finance requirements for high school students. 
 
   In the wake of our nation’s massive recession, Comptroller Franchot has been visiting schools around the state talking with student, parents and educators about the need for financial education. He has toured high schools in Carroll, Baltimore, Allegany, Talbot, Prince Georges and Montgomery counties.
