REISTERSTOWN, Md. (September 9, 2011) – TOMORROW, Lieutenant Governor Anthony G. Brown will give the keynote address at the annual wreath laying ceremony at the Maryland National Guard’s Fallen Warrior Memorial at Camp Fretterd. Officials and families gather for the ceremony each year to recognize the members of the Maryland National Guard who have given their lives in defense of their country. The Maryland National Guard’s Fallen Warrior Memorial was dedicated in 2008 and holds plaques inscribed with the names of 11 members of the Maryland National Guard who have been killed in combat since September 11th, 2001.
Lt. Governor Brown, a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, is the highest ranking elected official to have served a tour of duty in Iraq.
