On Sunday, January 8, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) will attend the annual Maryland Masons Emancipation Proclamation Observance, commemorating President Lincoln’s January 1, 1863 Executive Order freeing slaves in the 10 states that were then in rebellion.
This year’s celebration will pay special tribute to the late R.W. Robert J. Poindexter, who was a Prince George’s County resident and the Grand Lecturer of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Maryland.
