To Present Golden Apple Award to Cory McCray of Baltimore City

WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will present Cory McCray, known community leader and committed volunteer at Northeast Baltimore schools, with his inaugural Golden Apple Award for Baltimore City. The new award program is designed to recognize outstanding volunteers, both organizations and individuals, within the Maryland public school system.
McCray, through his community leadership and philanthropic efforts, has served as a volunteer at both, Northeast Middle School and Gardenview Elementary, for the past several years. He recently assisted students at Northeast Middle in raising money to pay for a trip to Annapolis so that students could experience the inner-workings of legislative process and tour the state’s capitol. Additionally, he serves as an advisor to the Student Government Association at Northeast Middle and a guest speaker for various school events.
