MAGAZINE CONFERENCE

WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 29, 2013) – TOMORROW, Lt. Governor Anthony Brown will be interviewed by GOVERNING Magazine Publisher Erin Waters about how Maryland is building stronger communities through public investments and working with the private sector at GOVERNING’s 2013 Outlook in the States & Localities Conference <http://www.governing.com/events/Outlook-in-the-States--Localities-Conference-2013.html> . This year’s conference will include discussions on new funding paradigms, regional solutions, the changing role of the federal government and where the money will be spent in the public sector market. Talks by public sector leaders and GOVERNING's own research team will deal with topics on revenue forecasts, policy trends, emerging issues and new focus areas for the states and localities.

In December 2012, the Lt. Governor was a featured speaker at GOVERNING’s Summit on Healthy Living, where he discussed Maryland’s Health Enterprise Zones program to address health disparities.

Lt. Governor Brown leads the O’Malley-Brown Administration’s work to expand and improve health care, support economic development, help victims of domestic violence, increase access to higher education, and provide Veterans with better services and resources. These responsibilities place the Lt. Governor in the unique position to understand the relationship between an educated and healthy workforce and economic development. During this year’s legislative session, the Lt. Governor is leading efforts to pass legislation to create a framework for public-private partnerships (P3s) that will provide the private sector with a stronger, more predictable and streamlined process that balances risks and protects public assets, while ensuring a strong workforce.
