LT. GOVERNOR BROWN TO HOLD PUBLIC
SAFETY TOWN HALLS
**Please note new location for Prince George’s
County discussion**
LARGO, Md. (February 5, 2013) – TODAY, Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown will be joined by Prince George’s County Council President Andrea Harrison for a public town hall to discuss the O’Malley-Brown Administration’s proposed public safety legislative package, answer questions and hear directly from community members about continuing to build a safer Maryland together. Last week, Lt. Governor Brown held a well-attended town hall in Baltimore City. Tomorrow, he will hold a third meeting in Montgomery County, where he will be joined by County Executive Ike Leggett, Council President Nancy Navarro and members of the County Council. The discussions tonight and tomorrow will be moderated by University of Maryland School of Public Policy Dean Donald Kettl.
The Lt. Governor will be also joined by a panel made up of State Police Superintendent Colonel Marcus Brown, State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lillian Lowery, and Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Secretary Dr. Joshua M. Sharfstein. Community members, advocates, public safety officials, faith leaders, and other state and local officials will also participate.
"These Town Halls are a chance for us to continue our conversation with the community on how we can work towards a safer and stronger Maryland," said Lt. Governor Anthony Brown. "I'm looking forward to sharing our common-sense approach to reducing violence in our neighborhoods, and hearing ideas on how we can work together to keep our streets, schools, and homes safe."
For Marylanders who are unable to attend one of the scheduled town halls, Lt. Governor Brown and Cabinet leaders will hold an online town hall in the days following during which they will answer questions submitted either through the RSVP forms on the website below or on Twitter using the hashtag #LGTownHall.
Those interested in attending the town halls can get additional information and access the RSVP form by visitinghttp://www.governor.maryland.
