Senator Cardin to join National Civil Rights
Organizations & Congressional Leaders In Support
of Passage for Harriet Tubman National Historic
Parks Act
Senators Cardin and Rob Portman (R-OH) will join other Senators in introducing a Senate Resolution the same day to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Harriet Tubman’s death on March 10, 2013. Ms. Tubman, who dedicated her life to the fight for freedom and justice, lived to the remarkable age of 93.
Senator Cardin has introduced the Harriet Tubman National Historical Parks Act in the 111th, 112th and 113th Congresses. This year, he is joined byU.S. Senators Barbara A. Mikulski (D-MD), Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand (both D-NY) in re-introducing the bill. U.S. Congressman Dan Maffei(NY-24) is introducing a companion bill in the U.S. House of Representatives.
