GOVERNOR O’MALLEY TO CELEBRATE OPENING OF $32.7 MILLION

RENOVATED MARC HALETHORPE STATION

 

ANNAPOLIS, MD (August 9, 2013) -- On Monday, August 12, Governor Martin O’Malley, joined by U.S. Senator Ben Cardin and other state and local officials, will celebrate the grand opening of the newly renovated MARC Halethorpe Station, highlighting the Administration’s continued commitment to investing in MARC Train improvements, which has yielded record-setting ridership numbers. During the event, the Governor will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the upgraded $32.7 million station.

Halethorpe is among the five busiest stations on the MARC Penn Line with more than 1,300 riders per day. Since 2007, the O’Malley-Brown Administration has invested more than $500 million in MARC improvements. Through strategic investments in the commuter rail system, ridership has reached an all-time record.
