WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) has announced that Kimberly Kratovil will now be his field representative for the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Kratovil’s appointment follows the retirement of Lee Whaley who held the position since Senator Cardin joined the Senate in 2007 and for 15 years prior with Senator Paul Sarbanes. Kratovil will represent Senator Cardin in the eight counties of the Eastern Shore (Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Caroline, Dorchester, Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset), working with constituents on federal issues, coordinating with local and state officials, and managing community outreach activities.

“Kimberly Kratovil has been invested in the Eastern Shore community for nearly two decades, raising a family, promoting the very best of Chesapeake Bay life, and contributing to local causes. I am grateful to have her as the newest member of our team. She will provide a constant presence and serve as my eyes and ears in one of the most important regions in Maryland for our economy and preserving our culture, history and environment,” said Senator Cardin. “Lee Whaley has had an indelible impact on Maryland’s Eastern Shore as an advisor to me and Senator Sarbanes. I have been fortunate to have her good counsel for so many years. She has been a tremendous public servant and a valued friend.”

"I am proud to represent a leader like Senator Cardin who not only cares so much about the health of the Eastern Shore's economy and the health of Chesapeake Bay, but who also is a good person. Working together, we can ensure that local voices are heard and listened to on a federal level as we find a balance that achieves our common goals," Kratovil said of her new position.

As a co-founder of Inspired Events, LLC, Kratovil has organized such major events as the Taste of Kent Narrows and the Beer, Bourbon & Cornhole with the United Way, as well as events for the Anne Arundel Medical Center and other area organizations. Inspired Events also was the creator of the Chesapeake Bay Wine Festival, which annually attracts thousands to sample regional wine, food and products, while giving back tens of thousands of dollars to the local community. Immediately prior to her joining Team Cardin, Kratovil served as communications director for the Foundation for Community Partnerships, a public charity that facilitates giving to nearly 75 charitable funds and pools resources to amplify the resources available for causes in the Chesapeake Bay region. She also is a regular volunteer with the Hospice of Queen Anne’s County.

Kratovil lives on the Eastern Shore with her husband Frank and their five children who attend schools in Queen Anne’s County.
