***MEDIA ADVISORY***

DEMOCRATIC SENATORS TO HIGHLIGHT THE IMPACT OF THE SHUTDOWN ON

FEDERAL WORKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION AND

NATIONWIDE

Washington D.C. – U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski (Both D-Md.), Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) will hold a press conference TODAY/WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2 at 11:00 am ET to discuss the impact of the government shutdown on federal workers in the National Capital Region and across the country. They will be joined by furloughed federal workers who will share their personal stories.

The National Capital Region, with its high concentration of federal public servants, will be hit especially hard, but all states will feel an impact from the shutdown. All taxpayers will be stuck with the bill for this manufactured crisis.  These numbers mean real financial pain for hard-working employees and their families in our States and all across our Nation.  The Senators will call on House Republicans to stop playing games with the lives of federal workers and pass a clean Continuing Resolution that allows real budget negotiations to commence without more damage to our economy.
