Honor 99-Year-Old Charles Pollard

WHAT:          Comptroller Franchot will visit the Forest Park Senior Center to present 99-year-old Charles Pollard with a proclamation recognizing his many years of volunteer service. Mr. Pollard, who is a World War II veteran, has been volunteering at the Waxter Center since 1972. He has held positions ranging from overseeing the senior day care and serving as an aide to the handicapped, to maintaining the cleanliness of the dining room and setting up for events. He also assists with the Eating Together Program and is active in developing the Welcome Volunteer Committee. The recognition is part of the Baltimore City Health Department’s Adult & Geriatric Health Services, Retired & Senior Volunteer Programs (RSVP) 38th Annual Volunteer Recognition Celebration. The RSVP program places individuals 55 and older in volunteer positions with private and public agencies throughout Baltimore City. Mr. Pollard is the only honoree this year.
