A supporter of Kids’ Chance of Maryland, Inc. since its inception, BGE was honored at the event with a Hero award for its long-standing commitment to and support of the Kids’ Chance of Maryland, Inc. scholarship program) – Every year, thousands of workers are disabled by on-the-job injuries in Maryland and in effort to promote safety and to support families of injured workers,
“At BGE, the safety of our employees and customers is our top priority and we are proud to support Kids’ Chance of Maryland, Inc. in their efforts to provide an opportunity for children whose parents have been disabled or fatally injured on-the-job to pursue their educational goals,” said Lynn S. Hrdlick, principal corporate social responsibility specialist for BGE and board member for Kids’ Chance of Maryland.
Since its founding nearly 200 years ago, BGE has played an integral role in working with Maryland communities to address economic development, public safety, civic issues and other initiatives that help enhance our neighborhoods. Through the use of shareholder dollars, BGE supports programs that deliver measurable and sustainable impact in areas of education, economic development, environment and arts and culture.
BGE’s corporate citizenship aligns with that of its parent company, Exelon Corporation. As part of Exelon’s merger in March 2012, Exelon and its subsidiaries have committed to maintain charitable giving of an average of $7 million per year in Maryland, including BGE’s service area, for the next 10 years. BGE’s support of the 2013 10th Annual Kids’ Chance of Maryland, Inc. Gala Fundraiser fulfills that commitment.
