WHAT:          This Wednesday afternoon, Comptroller Peter Franchot will do a bit of holiday shopping in Annapolis-- starting at Zachary’s Jewelers on Main Street -- as part of his Shop Maryland for the Holidays tour. Architecturally, Annapolis boasts some of the finest 17th and 18th century buildings in the country – including the residences of all four Maryland signers of the Declaration of Independence. Small shops and galleries are part of its charm. So far this holiday shopping season, the Comptroller has visited La Plata, Cumberland and Laurel. He will visitEaston and Cambridge on Thursday and wind up his tour Friday, Dec. 13, in Mt. Washington. The purpose of the annual tour is to promote shopping local to keep Maryland taxpayer dollars in the Maryland economy.
