WHAT:         Comptroller Peter Franchot will join Congressmen Cummings and Sarbanes and Baltimore CASH Campaign staff to announce the availability of free community tax services for low-income working families at sites in Baltimore City and County, made possible by the Baltimore CASH Campaign. The Comptroller will speak about cultivating a financially literate society.  Embarking on its 13th year, the campaign and its partners file nearly 10,000 tax returns for free each tax season. The service is provided to taxpayers with incomes under $52,000 to help ensure they do not pay the high cost of paid tax preparers and that they benefit from the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Comptroller Franchot then will visit DiPasquale’s Italian Market in Highlandtown to present a proclamation to owner Joe DiPasquale and his family who have owned and operated the market and deli or four generations. Founded nearly 100 years ago by Luigi Di Pasquale Sr., the business has achieved a local reputation as a superior retailer and importer of fine Italian foods and specialty items.
