WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will give the keynote speech at the annual Legislative Day hosted by the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) and the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Chesapeake. Each year, the NFIB and IEC members gather to share the concerns small businesses in Maryland face.
The Comptroller will talk about the state’s economy, the major role small businesses play in job creation, growth and expanding local economic opportunities, how re-coupling Maryland’s estate tax with the federal exemption rate would benefit generations of families and ways to revamp the state government’s procurement process. There will be a question and answer session afterward.
The NFIB represents the interests of 3,000 small businesses in Maryland. It has 300,000 members nationwide. IEC Chesapeake, which is headquartered in Laurel, represents electrical contractors in the mid-Atlantic region.
