WHAT:           Comptroller Franchot will join County Executive Neuman and school officials for a tour of Severna Park High School. County and school officials are requesting $25.2 million in Fiscal Year 2015 for a replacement school from the Board of Public Works, of which the Comptroller serves as a member. In the latest round of the state’s Public School Construction Program funding requests, Anne Arundel County has requested $56 million for 32 projects.

Originally constructed in 1959, a replacement of Severna Park High School is expected to cost roughly $134 million and take three years to complete.

Anne Arundel County School officials have requested that because of space limitations and the need to ensure continued instruction for students, media will not be permitted on the tour. The Comptroller and County Executive will be available for interviews in front of the school after the tour.
