Heritage High Student Stabbed

A 17 year-old Baltimore boy is in police custody, and being held without bail, on attempted murder charges in the Oct. 1 stabbing of a fellow student at Heritage High School, police said. He is being charged as an adult, according to police.

Police said Darrell Johns, of the first block of North Potomac Street in the Patterson Park neighborhood, is being held without bond.

The wounded student, who was not identified, was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital for knife wounds to the upper body after a fight that occurred in a hallway of the school at about 11 a.m. during a lunch period.

Baltimore City police said the student was escorted out while holding himself and repeating, “I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die.”

The Heritage High School stabbing comes just weeks after the Perry Hall High School shooting and a middle school student bringing a gun to Stemmers Run Middle School.

The incident is the latest violent act to occur at Heritage High School formerly known as Lake Clifton High school. The school, located in the Clifton Park area, has been the scene of several student altercations including a 2001 fatal shooting that left one student dead.
