Baltimore area fashionistas converged on Fells Point for a one-night shopping frenzy, Sept. 6, in what retailers call Fashion’s Night Out, during which the highlights of fall fashion lines are previewed.
Thanks to the Baltimore Fashion Alliance (BFA) that organized the gathering, vendors displayed the coming season’s fashion in a single venue, the Power Plant, for the second consecutive year.
“BFA created a venue for people who didn’t have a store front. We wanted to let people know that fashion is still here in Baltimore and not just in New York,” BFA Executive Secretary Beverly Hill said. “Last year, we did [Fashion’s Night Out] at Harbor Court. We figured out what we could do differently this year. We had a bigger venue and a fashion show. I loved it. It was a lot of fun.”
Over nine boutiques presented their latest fall fashion as the crowd excitingly applauded the models.
“It was fun. I had a good time. I enjoyed seeing all the new trends, the fashion, and the artists. When people think about fashion, they always think about New York. They don’t think about Baltimore. It is good to see that we can compete with the fashion in New York,” replied model, Kyra Burse.
Second year attendee, Beatrice Bangura enjoyed her night at the event with her friend as she snapped pictures of the fashion show. “I had fun. I liked it better than last year. The only thing that would have made it better [this year] would have been if it was inside. It’s very humid tonight. Other than that, I liked it,” Bangura said cheerfully. “There were more vendors last year, but this year they added a fashion show. I really enjoyed the fashion show.”
