An unidentified man was shot at the Student Center at Morgan State University Sept. 12 and police locked down the campus while they searched for the gunman.
Authorities said the victim was not a student.
The incident occurred about 4:50 p.m. at the Student Center, the hub of the northeast Baltimore campus. At that time of day, typically students flock to the center study, eat at a dining hall or attend a variety of activities.
Baltimore police joined campus officers to comb the campus. Officials said the victim was not a student.
Students were alerted electronically, via text message and later on the campus website. The alert was updated at 6:12 p.m. when students were notified that an all clear had been sounded, although evening classes were canceled.
“Avoid university Student Center as police investigation in progress,” the alert said.
It was initially reported that the victim had been stabbed. It was later determined that he was shot. Police believed the man’s injuries were not fatal.
