Ardmore Elementary Principal Georgette Gregory Honored for Leadership in Arts Education


Georgette Gregory, principal of Ardmore Elementary School was recently honored by the Arts Education in Maryland Schools (AEMS) Alliance for establishing an institution that is rich in the arts.

“An arts-infused education plays an integral role in the development of a student,” Dr. Kevin M. Maxwell, chief executive officer for PGCPS said in a statement. “These principals are to be commended for enhancing the learning environment through the arts and giving students the opportunity to explore something new."

Edgar Batenga, principal of Northwestern High School was also honored.

Gregory and Batenga were nominated by Prince George’s County Public Schools Fine Arts Department for their outstanding work on behalf of arts education and arts integration for all students. They were among thirteen other principals representing nine counties in the state of Maryland. All nominees were recognized during a luncheon at The Walters Art Museum and received certificates of acknowledgement.
