Washington Wizards Partner With Make-a-Wish Foundation to Fulfill Young Fan’s Dream

Washington Wizards recently partnered with Make-who served as a Howard A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic to help grant the wish of 10-year-old Wizards fan Amaris Jackson.

Amaris, who is battling renal cell carcinoma will undergo surgery in the near future to remove a tumor in her lungs, was signed by the team for Saturday’s game against  Milwaukee Bucks. Amaris is also a point guard for Takoma Elementary School and is from Washington, DC.

Amaris joined Coach Randy Wittman and the entire team for the pregame shootaround followed by a personalized basketball workout with John Wall and coach Ryan Saunders. Later that evening, she joined Monumental Sports & Entertainment chairman and CEO Ted Leonsis and Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld for the signing of a one-day contract. Amaris led the team onto the court prior to the game and was the game’s honorary captain. She also received John Wall’s jersey immediately after the game as part of the “jerseys off your back” initiative.
