D.C. Chapter of Continental Societies Celebrate 60 Years of Service

The Washington, D.C. Chapter, Continental Societies, celebrated its 60th Anniversary: Reflections of Our Journey; 60 Years of Committed Service to Children and Youth, Nov 2, at the Washington Marriott Hotel. Chapter President Venida Y. Hamilton along with the anniversary committee co-chairs, Aurelia Martin and Xzaquoinett Y. Warrick treated the guests to an afternoon of fine cuisine, musical selections by Jahari Shelton and Jasmine Bailey and a slide presentation of the chapter’s journey.

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray presented a proclamation of appreciation, Special acknowledgement and video tribute was given to Drs. Vincent and Vance Moss, chapter endowment sponsors, both members of the board of directors and majors in the U.S. Army Reserves. A highlight of the celebration was the recognition of Continental Legends: Permelia Carvella Vaughn Beavers; Norma Jenkins Stewart and Ethel Lee Reid Walker. Edna Lee Moffitt, national president, Continental Societies, served as the emcee...and the journey continues.
