Two Convicted in Death of Man Found in Woods in N.Y.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.— Two men have been convicted in the death of a man who was found in woods in New York's Westchester County in 2011.

Westchester District Attorney Janet DiFiore said Oct. 17 that 26-year-old Patrick Smith, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., was found guilty of second-degree murder and other charges. Travis Morin, also 26, of Danbury, N.H., was convicted of robbery and unlawful imprisonment.

They were tried before separate juries.

The victim, Epifanio Medina, was found dead in June 2011 in North Salem, N.Y. Two horseback riders found Medina's decomposing body.

Medina was from Florida but had been living in Passaic, N.J. Prosecutors said he was known to carry lots of cash.

Two others have pleaded guilty to charges relating to Medina's death, Jessica Ryan French and Charles Blanchard.
