Second Suspect Arraigned in Michigan Football Player’s Death

The second of two suspects has been arraigned on a murder charge in the shooting of an Eastern Michigan University football player at an off-campus apartment complex.

Twenty-year-old Kristopher K. Pratt of Detroit was arraigned Nov. 26 at the Washtenaw County jail and ordered held without bond.

He and 20-year-old Ed. J. Thomas of Detroit face first-degree murder and robbery charges in the Oct. 18 killing of Demarius Reed.

Thomas was arraigned Nov. 24. Both men face a probable cause hearing Dec. 5.

The Washtenaw County public defender's office represents Thomas and declined comment. It said another law office will represent Pratt to avoid a conflict of interest.

Reed was a 20-year-old communications major from Chicago and played six games this season, catching 15 passes for 185 yards.
