D.C. Church Celebrates 78th Anniversary


First Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church will be celebrating its 78th Church Anniversary from May 14 to May 18.

Pre-Anniversary services will be held at 7 p.m. nightly with the Rev. Haywood Robinson III, pastor of People's Community Baptist Church in Silver Spring on May 14; the Rev. Sylvia Ball, pastor of Sweet Union Baptist Church of Roanoke, Va. and on May 15, the Rev. Dr. H.B. Sampson III, pastor of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church of WDC on May 16.

The Community Fellowship Day and Parade will be held 10 a.m., May 17, in front of the church and anniversary Sunday services will feature guest speakers: the Rev. Dexter Nutall, pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church at 7:45 a.m.; the Rev. Keith Byrd, pastor of Zion Baptist Church at 11 a.m. and the Rev. Robert Miner, pastor of First Baptist Church of Deanwood at the 3:30 p.m. program.

First Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church is located at 602 N Street, N.W. D.C. where the Rev. Reginald M. Green Sr. is the interim pastor.
