Three PGCPS High School Seniors Awarded Gates Millennium Scholarships

Three graduating seniors from Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) have been selected for the Gates Millennium Scholars Program.

"This is a prestigious honor and these students are to be congratulated,” said Dr. Kevin. M. Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer. “The financial support that this scholarship provides our students opens doors that may not have otherwise been available to them.”

PGCPS recipients include Oloruntobi Dare (Charles H. Flowers High School); Charmaine Scarlett (Forestville High School); and Maimuna Sidibay (High Point High School).

Launched in 1999 with a $1 billion grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the program awards talented students each year with a “good-through-graduation” scholarship to use at the college or university of their choice. The program promotes academic excellence and provides an opportunity for outstanding minority students with significant financial need to reach their highest potential.
