Junior guard Tracey King led four North Carolina A&T Lady Aggie starters in double figures with a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds as host North Carolina A&T defeated the Morgan State Lady Bears, 90-73, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game at the Corbett Sports Center in Greensboro, N.C.

Redshirt junior guard Amber Calvin added 16 points, while senior guard/forward JaQuayla Berry nearly recorded a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore guard/forward Ariel Bursey finished with 13 points, as the Lady Aggies (11-7, 3-2 MEAC) earned their second straight victory over Morgan State, while ending a four-game regular season losing skid to the Lady Bears.

Morgan State (5-14, 2-4 MEAC) dropped its 16th straight road contest dating back to last season, and is 0-10 this season. The Lady Bears had three players score in double figures. Senior guard Bianca Jarrett led the way with a team-high 21 points and sophomore guard Tracey Carrington added 15. Junior guard Whitney Southerland came off the bench and finished with 12 points. Jarrett and senior guard Moneshia Davis led the Lady Bears with a team-high six rebounds each.

The Lady Bears trailed by 19 points after a basket by King to start the second half, but went on a 19-4 run behind long-distance shooting over the next four minutes to pull within 43-39 with 15:33 to play. Senior guard Briana Coardes began the run with a three-pointer and senior guard Jamie Smith later knocked down two three-pointers sandwiched around a trey by Jarrett. Southerland then hit the fifth Morgan State three-pointer of the run to make it a four-point game.

A&T ended any momentum the Lady Bears had when sophomore guard Adriana Nazario scored a basket on the ensuing possession and added a free throw on the play to trigger a 20-5 run for North Carolina and increase the Lady Aggies lead to 63-47 with 9:32 remaining in the contest.

The host Lady Aggies shot 51 percent (30-of-58) for the game and connected on 27-of-35 (77 percent) from the foul line. NC A&T also outrebounded Morgan State, 43-29.

Morgan State shot 23-of-59 (39 percent) from the floor, including 10-of-28 (35 percent) from three-point range. The Lady Bears were 17-of-23 (73 percent) from the free throw line, with Jarrett knocking down 10 of 14 shots.

The Lady Bears will travel to Durham, N.C. to take on the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central in a MEAC game on Jan. 28. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. at McDougald-McLendon Gym.
