H.D. Woodson junior quarterback Rashad Cooper tossed three touchdowns as the Warriors crushed Friendship Collegiate, 25-8, in the DCIAA football championship game on Dec. 6 at Catholic University in Northeast D.C.

It was the 10th straight win for Woodson, who finished with an 11-3 overall record.
Woodson controlled the game from the start. The Warriors led 13-0 at halftime after two touchdown passes from Cooper. Cooper threw his third touchdown pass on the first play of the third quarter, a 54-yard bomb to senior receiver/defensive back D’Andre Payne.

Woodson later scored on a blocked punt returned for a touchdown.

The Warriors’ defense was just as impressive as their offense. Woodson recorded three interceptions and held Friendship Collegiate to just 8 points for the game.

“We worked hard all year,” Payne told reporters after the game.

“We were the underdogs and were supposed to get beat by 30 points. But we just came out and played football. Now we’re the champs.”
