(May 2, 2009) -
It seemed as though everyone was out and about this past weekend enjoying yet another sunny two days.
The city celebrated the warm weather in a big way with the Station North Spring Festival (Charles St. and North Ave.). Patrons had a great time with live music, art openings, burlesque performances, and fashion shows. The Paradox tried (1310 Russell St) tried something different this weekend when they presented “Under The Big Top” with special performances by e Bassbin Twins, Total Science, Reid Speed, Chavy Boys, Jen Lasher, Oh Snap, Commodore 64 and Leko. Sunday afternoon kicked off with Federal Hill annual spring block party where neighbors were provided with food, drinks, and a variety of musical performances.
Baltimore’s own are being put on the map in a variety of television programming. Hometown funny girl Monique is set to star in a new B.E.T. late night show, Break Time with Mo’Nique“. The show is set to air this fall. Baltimore School for the Arts graduate Jada Pinkett-Smith is adding another credit to her roster, executive producer and television star. Hawthorne takes place at Richmond Trinity Hospital in Richmond, Va., where the strong-but-caring director of nursing, Christina Hawthorne (Pinkett Smith), continuously fights battles she often knows she won’t win. I for one cannot wait to catch the show this summer! Baltimore bred Brooke Crittendon was spotted in New York City this weekend at the season finale of her BET show, Harlem Heights. The break out star is reportedly looking to host shows and become a household name in the entertainment news world.
Young Jeezy is slated to perform at Palma’s next Saturday brought to you by Baltimore’s biggest promoters, House of Dynasty. Tickets are on sale at Downtown Locker Room. Frankie Beverly and Maze will be in town May 8th at the Pier Six Concert Pavilion and Keisha Cole will be at the same location on June 6.
If you’re looking for a great place to get your eat and party on, I highly recommend XS Lounge. This eclectic and modern sushi restaurant is located in one of Baltimore’s trendiest neighborhoods, Mount Vernon (it’s in the middle of the block so make sure you’re looking for it when you go). The atmosphere was very chic with music playing in the background and seemingly young professionals catching up with friends or enjoying a night out with their significant other.
Until Next Week,
