R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn was seen having a good time at Eyebar along with local rapper Tabi Bonney.

(May 9, 2009) - What a rainy week it has been in the District, and it doesn't seem to be letting up yet. What happened to "April showers brings May flowers?” Hopefully, we can look forward to better weather this weekend, but if I were you, I wouldn't get my hopes up. If the weather is disappointing you, hopefully the city isn't. There was a lot going on last week despite the downpour.

When the weather was better, Mayor Adrian Fenty was spotted running with his American Odyssey Run Adventure team, earning second place and raising money for The Wellness Community of Greater Washington, D.C.
Former heavyweight boxing champ Riddick Bowe was also seen giving back at the U.S. Capitol reflecting pool when he helped students from Briar Woods High School in Virginia collect thousands of shoes, representing the many people killed in Darfur.

While Councilmember Marion Barry was seen protesting against same-sex marriages, First lady Michelle Obama was seen at the Capital Area Food Bank with Jill Biden and more than 100 congressional spouses. Sponsored by a hunger relief group, Feeding America, they bagged food for hungry children.

Seen on the party scene was San Francisco 49er’s player Vernon Davis at Fly Lounge. His brother, Vontae Davis, was recently drafted to the Miami Dolphins. R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn was seen having a good time at Eyebar along with local rapper Tabi Bonney.
Even Washington Redskin Clinton Portis enjoyed the nightlife last week with many female fans inside of Shadow Room.

Still, if the weather has you in a bad mood, relax this week because
it's the start of Yoga Week 2009. Many area yoga studios will be
offering free or discounted classes until May 9. Get affordable
yoga and meditation classes to help relieve stress and increase
productivity. For more information or a list of participating studios,
visit www.dcyogaweek.com.

If yoga doesn't do the trick, perhaps a nice cocktail will. Indulj
(1208 U Street NW) is having their usual happy hour and party
on Friday night. Enjoy live music on the first floor and DJ Alizay
on the second floor until the wee hours of the morning. For more
events like these, including where D.C. go-go star Big G is
celebrating his birthday, visit www.thefabempire.com.

Stay fab, y'all!
