(June 8, 2009) - The Wilson Tigers recently kept a rich tradition alive last after beating the H.D. Woodson Warriors, 9-1, in the DCIAA baseball championship last month.

For the past 17 years Wilson has not lost a DCIAA championship game, and first year head coach Eddie Smith made sure the tradition was extended.

“You don't want to be the guy that loses the first one,” said coach Smith, who replaced long time Wilson coach Eddie Saah. Smith served as Wilson’s assistant coach as well as a former player.

Although Wilson batted strong at the plate, they also dominated defensively, as ace pitcher Jacob Polin never left the mound, pitching all seven innings while only giving up one run.
