The farewell activities for late Congressman Elijah E. Cummings began in his beloved city of Baltimore on Oct. 23. On the campus of Morgan State University, where he served as a member on the Board of Regents, the Murphy Fine Arts Center was filled with love and gratitude as people gathered to pay their respects. Family, friends, colleagues, and constituents of Rep. Cummings honored his life and work through special tributes, sharing fond memories and other centiments. Even in death, the congressman continues to make history as the first Black lawmaker to lie in state at the U.S. Capitol. AFRO writer and photographer Imani Wright spoke with Toya Wimby at the tribute.
